SDS
The Global Harmonised system (GHS) of classification and labelling of Chemicals was proposed by the United Nations (UN) to harmonise existing worldwide systems.
The Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulations (CLP) came into force on 20th January 2009 in Europe. The CLP Regulation requires EU companies to align classification, labelling and packaging of their substances and mixtures with GHS criteria.
CLP Regulations applies to both EU manufacturers and importers.
CLP Regulation requires manufacturers to:
- Submit and keep updated their CLP for notification for substances and substances within mixtures placed on the market in the EU from 1 December 2010.
- Submit and keep updated their CLP notification for mixtures placed on the market in the EU from 1 June 2015.
- Applies to any substances that are subject to REACH regulation.
- Applies to all hazardous substances regardless of tonnage.
- Applies to substances, substances in mixture and mixtures themselves
- Requires SDS to be supplied in REACH format and corresponding CLP labelling and packaging to be supplied in the official language of the country of the recipient.
